Qualifications & Training

“Experience, training and a deeply human way of working"

Professional Qualifications & Training:

My work is shaped by both lived experience and professional training.

Everything I offer comes from a place I know — not just intellectually, but personally — supported by a strong, ethical therapeutic foundation.

I’m a qualified Psychotherapist, Therapeutic Counsellor and Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist with more than 20 years’ experience working therapeutically with clients.

My approach has developed through extensive training across a number of therapeutic modalities. Rather than relying on one particular model of therapy, I draw on different approaches depending on the individual sitting in front of me, what they are experiencing and what will be most useful to them.

Therapeutic Counselling – Level 4

I qualified in Therapeutic Counselling (Level 4) in 2006.

My counselling training gave me a strong foundation in therapeutic practice, including the therapeutic relationship, listening and communication skills, ethical practice and supporting people through emotional and psychological difficulties.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) – Practitioner

I qualified as an NLP Practitioner in 2009.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming explores the relationship between our thoughts, language, behaviour and the patterns we develop through our experiences. NLP is one of the approaches I can draw upon when helping clients recognise established patterns, explore different perspectives and create change. My NLP training is connected with ANLP – The Association for Neuro Linguistic Programming.

Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy – Diploma Level (3 Years)

In 2015, I completed diploma-level training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy at The Berne Institute in Kegworth, with training undertaken within the professional framework and guidelines of UKATA – the UK Association for Transactional Analysis.

Transactional Analysis (TA) provides a way of understanding personality, relationships and communication, including how experiences and decisions made earlier in life can influence the way we relate to ourselves and others as adults.

Alongside Transactional Analysis, my psychotherapeutic work also incorporates Parts Work and principles from Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Parts Work explores the idea that we can have different parts of ourselves carrying different beliefs, emotions, protective responses and ways of coping. Rather than seeing these parts as something that needs to be fixed or removed, we can become curious about why they developed, what they have been trying to do for us and whether those responses are still needed today.

This fits closely with the way I work with identity, subconscious patterns and protective behaviours — helping clients understand not only what they do, but what might be happening underneath it.

Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy

I qualified in Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy with Atkinson-Ball in 2013 and am registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR).

Clinical hypnotherapy allows us to work with subconscious processes and patterns that aren't always accessible through conscious thinking and conversation alone. I integrate hypnotherapy into my wider psychotherapeutic work where appropriate, particularly when working with long-standing beliefs, behaviours, emotional responses and identity.

Trauma-Informed & Nervous System-Informed Therapy

My work is both trauma-informed and nervous system-informed.

This means recognising that our experiences can shape the way we respond to ourselves, other people and the world around us — sometimes long after the original experience has passed.

I pay attention to protective responses, patterns of safety and threat, emotional regulation and what may be happening within the nervous system, rather than simply focusing on the behaviour we can see on the surface.

Being trauma-informed doesn't mean assuming that everything is trauma, or that healing requires repeatedly revisiting the past. Understanding where a response came from can be incredibly useful, but my work is also interested in what is happening now and whether an old protective response is still serving the person you are today.

The aim isn't to keep you defined by what happened to you. It's to understand what your mind and body learned from it, recognise what is still useful and create space for something different.

An Integrative Approach

Although these qualifications underpin my work, I don't believe therapy should be about fitting you into a particular therapeutic model.

Over more than two decades of working with people, my approach has become increasingly integrative.

I draw on psychotherapy, counselling, Transactional Analysis, Parts Work, principles from Internal Family Systems, NLP and clinical hypnotherapy alongside my understanding of subconscious processes, identity, behaviour and emotional patterns.

The modality is a tool. The person sitting in front of me determines how I use it.

Mission:

My mission is to support women who have spent a lifetime holding everything together to come back into relationship with themselves.

I exist to challenge the idea that coping quietly is strength, that exhaustion is normal, and that ultra-independence is something to aspire to.

Through calm, relational and deeply human therapeutic work, I create spaces where women can slow down, soften, and safely lay down the emotional load they’ve been carrying for years.

This work isn’t about fixing women — it’s about reconnecting them with their bodies, their truth, and their sense of self beneath the roles, responsibility and constant giving.

I believe change doesn’t come from force or pressure, but from feeling safe enough to listen to yourself again.

My mission is to help end generational female burnout — by modelling a different way of living, one where women are supported, regulated, connected and no longer last on their own list.

Because when a woman is truly supported, everything else in her life shifts with her.

What's the true cost of staying where you are?

Ultra-independence was never meant to be the end goal.

It kept generations of women functioning —
but at the cost of rest, connection and joy.

This is the moment we stop passing down burnout
and start modelling support, softness and sustainability instead.
