Psychotherapy & Clinical Hypnotherapy Services Stamford

It’s time we rethink therapy and what it actually means to need support.

You've spent years being the person who can handle it all. What happens when you don't want to ANYMORE!

I think there’s something really interesting happening for women of our generation. We’ve lived through such enormous change. We were encouraged to be independent, to have careers, earn our own money, build businesses, make our own choices and create lives that perhaps our mothers and grandmothers couldn’t have imagined for themselves.

And we did. But I’m not sure we ever really put down all the other stuff women had traditionally carried. We just added more to it.

So many women I work with have spent decades with this enormous sense of duty. To their children, their partners, their parents, their work, their businesses, their friends. They’ve become incredibly capable at managing life, being there for people and doing what needs to be done. There’s often a really high expectation of themselves too. They don’t want to let people down, they don’t want to be difficult, they don’t want to make a fuss and, above all, they should be able to cope.

And the problem with being very good at coping is that you can live like that for a very long time without ever really questioning the cost of it.

Until something starts to change.

It might not even be something you can put your finger on. Life hasn’t necessarily gone wrong. In fact, that’s often what makes it so confusing. You can look around at everything you have and know that you should feel happy. You might have a lovely home, people you love, a successful career or business, friendships, holidays, freedom — all the things you thought would make life feel full.

But somehow, it doesn’t.

There can be a strange emptiness to it. A sense of going through the motions, of feeling disconnected from a life you know you should be enjoying. And because you’ve spent your life being capable, you don’t necessarily recognise that as something you might need help with. You’re not falling apart. You’re functioning perfectly well. You just don’t feel very much like you anymore.

And then, of course, you judge yourself for that too.

You tell yourself you should be grateful. That other people have much bigger problems. That perhaps you’re expecting too much from life. You wonder whether you’ve become selfish or difficult, or whether this is simply what getting older feels like.

So you try to understand it.

You read the books, listen to the podcasts, follow people online. You learn about boundaries, people pleasing, attachment, trauma, nervous systems, childhood patterns. You become incredibly good at understanding why you are the way you are.

And yet understanding it doesn’t necessarily stop you doing it.

You can know exactly why you struggle to say no and still hear yourself saying yes. You can understand why you put everybody else first and still feel guilty when you choose yourself. You can recognise a pattern while you’re actually repeating it.

That can leave you wondering, I know all this, so why do I still feel like this?

Maybe that’s because this isn’t simply about understanding yourself better.

Maybe you’ve reached a point in your life where the woman you became in order to manage everything, achieve everything and be everything to everybody else doesn’t quite fit anymore.

That doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with her. She’s probably served you incredibly well.

But perhaps you don’t want to spend the next twenty or thirty years living from the same expectations that shaped the last twenty or thirty.

And that opens up a very different conversation.

Not what’s wrong with me?

But who am I now, and what do I actually want from the rest of my life?

What's the true cost of staying where you are?

How I work:

I work differently to many therapists.

After more than 20 years of doing this work, I’ve questioned the traditional weekly 50-minute therapy model. Our lives have changed, and for many of us, that way of working simply doesn’t fit anymore.

I prefer longer, deeper sessions that give us the time and space to actually get somewhere, rather than watching the clock just as we reach what really matters.

Your past matters and we’ll honour it, but we won’t get stuck exploring it. I’m interested in how it’s showing up in your life now — in the patterns you repeat, the things you tolerate, the way you feel and the choices you make.

Because you can understand why you do something inside out and still keep doing it.

That’s the gap I work in.

How We Can Work Together

Immersive+

Immersive + is my deepest level of support.

It begins with a full-day immersive to uncover and disrupt the unconscious patterns shaping your life, followed by three months of personalised integration.

Clarity

Clarity is a 5-session therapeutic journey designed to help you work through something that’s been looping, weighing on you, or quietly draining your energy. Often, what feels like the problem is actually a symptom — and this work is about gently getting to the root.

The Identity Shift

You know something feels off — but you’re not sure why, or where to start. The Identity Shify is exactly that, a place to begin. A gentle, one-off session where you can talk things through, get a feel for the way I work, and experience what it’s like to be met with calm, curiosity and care.

"of all the roads she travelled, the journey back to herself was the most magnificent"

"Courage starts by showing up and letting ourselves be seen".

Why I became a therapist...

I came from a family of hard-workers — both my parents worked full time and they provided a lovely life in so many ways, but they were never there. As a small child this can have a profound impact on how you feel about yourself and for me I can remember feeling like I was in the way, like I didn’t belong.
As I grew up I learned to be loud where it mattered and invisible where it kept the peace. I became an expert at doing the things that won attention: being useful, being “the helper”, being the fixer. But it never felt like enough. I was always chasing the next nod, the next look, the next sign that I mattered.......

Who do I work with

I mainly work with women who feel stuck, exhausted by perfectionism or “shoulds,” and ready to make different choices. Many clients are navigating life transitions, mid-life crossroads, or long-running patterns that started in childhood. If you’re ready to see yourself differently, you’re in the right place.

What services do I offer?

One-to-one psychotherapy, clinical hypnotherapy, immersive in-person days, a focused 5-session reset, and one off First Step sessions to see if how I work suits your needs. I tailor the approach to what you need — talk therapy, body-felt regulation, or hypnotherapy for deeper automatic patterns.

What’s the difference between psychotherapy and clinical hypnotherapy?

Psychotherapy helps you explore patterns, feelings and relationships with words and experience. Clinical hypnotherapy works with the body and subconscious patterns — it’s not stage hypnosis. Together they’re a powerful combo: talk + felt change.

How long is a typical session?

My standard one-to-one sessions are 90 minutes. Immersive days are full-day experiences (usually 10am–4pm). Sessions last as long as they need to — we’ll agree what fits you.

What happens in the first session?

We’ll start with a free 20-minute discovery call to see if we’re a fit. Your first paid session is about hearing your story, understanding what’s coming up now, and agreeing next steps — personalised to you on the day. It’s compassionate, confidential and grounded — not an interrogation. From the very first session we also go beneath the conscious surface: using psychotherapy and gentle hypnotherapy to engage the subconscious so real integration can begin straight away, with growth work tailored to deepen that integration as we go.

How many sessions will I need?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some people feel a clear shift in a handful of sessions; others benefit from longer work. If you want structure, the 5-Session Path Reset is a focused block. We’ll review progress regularly and adjust the plan together.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes — I offer both in-person work (Maxey, Stamford) and online sessions. My preference is to work face-to-face because so much gets missed online — the small body cues, the breathing, the felt shifts — and I find it deepens the work.

Important note: Immersive days are in-person only. My 5-session Path Reset and regular therapy blocks can be run online if that suits you (or if you’re further away). We’ll choose the format that best supports your needs and what you want to achieve.

How private is this work?

Everything we discuss is confidential. I’m a registered practitioner and follow professional standards for confidentiality and record-keeping. There are legal exceptions for safety (risk of harm to you or others), which I’ll explain at the outset.

What are your fees & payment options?

I offer a range of options (single sessions, session blocks, immersive days). My prices are all listed under the services section. I accept card payments and bank transfer for blocks and courses.

What my clients have to say!

Ultra-independence was never meant to be the end goal.

It kept generations of women functioning —
but at the cost of rest, connection and joy.

This is the moment we stop passing down burnout
and start modelling support, softness and sustainability instead.
